
THE FAMILY BUSINESS CONSULTANT SHORT LEARNING PROGRAMME
The NMMU Family Business Unit takes great pleasure in announcing that it will be running it’s flag ship short learning programme offering, entitled, “The Family Business Consultant”.
The Family Business Consultant Short Learning Programme is meant for individuals who have been, or who may become part of a family business, or who are already consultants or professionals who will be/are working with clients who own and manage family businesses.
This short learning programme will focus on specific areas, such as:
- The unique qualities of family businesses;
- Developing a genogram;
- Conflict resolution in the family business;
- Governance in the family business;
- Managing family business succession; and
- Family business consulting
*This is a NQF Level 5 qualification.
What is a family business? |

and collaboration skills that are vital to the success of their “partnership” and their business. |
The Family Business Consultant |
5 | 4 Days | 8 | Allows students to connect personalconcerns to business issues, to see how the personal dimension affects
the conduct of business, and to understand how to move between a personal and a business perspective. It is meant for students who have been, or who may become, part of a family business, or who are already consultants or professionals, who will be/are working with clients who are operating family businesses. |
Family Business Succession |
5 | 1 Day | 3 | This short learning programme aimsto create an enhanced understanding of the nature and pitfalls of succession.
With this understanding, family business stakeholders may be better equipped to identify or formulate appropriate strategies for approaching this complex issue as well as enhancing the family business’s prospects of survival, continuity and success. |
